Welcome to the Canyonleigh Rural Bush Fire Brigade

Located on the western fringe of the Southern Highlands, the Canyonleigh and Paddy’s River areas feature rich farming and grazing lands, National Parks and pristine bushland, tourism facilities and B&Bs, lifestyle and hobby farms and is home to a quickly growing population. It is also an area that can come under threat from bush and grass fires. Our web site provides an array of information and resources for residents and visitors alike including:

  • OUR BRIGADE: News, information and history of our brigade
  • NOTICE BOARD: Resources, advice and practical information for bush fire and property management and protection
  • EVENTS: Activities and community events, bush fire incidents, latest news
  • SURVIVE: Bush fire plans, safety tips and hints, downloadable information

During the bush fire season, usually from 1 October to 31 March, we post the daily bush fire rating (also featured on signs within Canyonleigh). Feel free to contact us at any time should you wish to discuss your concerns regarding bush fire issues. You can also keep up-to-date on Brigade activities on our Facebook page and also contact us via Direct Messaging.

New to our area? Feel free to contact us for help or advice. Why not become a volunteer with our brigade – check out the link on our Notice Board.

PLEASE NOTE: Whilst we endeavour during the bush fire season to update our web site and Facebook page with daily danger ratings, news, fire activity and general information, we cannot guarantee currency or accuracy due to limited resources and volunteer availability. We recommend the Hazards Near Me app on your device or computer. You can also check weather conditions and current fire danger ratings on the Bureau of Meterology site: www.bom.gov.au or the Rural Fire Service web site at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au
