Although a relatively remote area, Canyonleigh is home to a growing number of families, rural businesses, home businesses and hobby farms.
The Canyonleigh bush fire area is the largest in Wingecarribee Shire. The zone is bounded by the Hume Highway to the east, Wollondilly River to the west, Paddy’s River to the south and the convergence of the Wollondilly & Wingecarribee Rivers to the north: an area approximately 30 kilometres x 15 kilometres. Scattered within this zone are some 400 large and medium rural holdings, hobby farms, rural industries including vineyards, truffle farms, nurseries, tourist centres and accommodation facilities.
The area is also recognised for its wide, diverse and fragile array of native fauna and flora. It is also home to the Bangadilly National Park, a popular destination for bushwalkers.
The Canyonleigh Bush Fire Brigade is a vibrant and important member of this community and always ready to lend a hand.
